Hydrauvision Rental at WrapNode II TU Delft
Hydrauvision Rental is involved in the international WrapNode II project. Within this project, a large-scale test setup has been realized to support research activities at TU Delft. The setup concerns a down-scaled offshore jacket test. The research focuses on evaluating the structural strength and fatigue performance of composite-wrapped tubular connections (X-, K-, and Y-joints) under representative offshore loading conditions.
The energy transition and the growth of offshore structures call for sustainable reinforcement methods and life extension of existing assets. WrapNode II provides valuable data and technical validation in this regard. In the test setup, a jacket structure is mounted in a steel load frame. Static and cyclic loads are applied using a hydraulic cylinder. During testing, strain, stresses, and deformations are accurately measured using, among other methods, strain gauges and DIC measurements.
For this test, Hydrauvision Rental supplies an HP55E (Electric HPU) to ensure stable and controlled loading. The selected solution is fully emission-free and aligns with the sustainability objectives of the research. In addition, this approach prevents local emissions during the testing phase. Reliable hydraulic capacity is essential to guarantee reproducible and validated test results.
The client deliberately chose Hydrauvision due to our many years of offshore experience, proven technical reliability, and rapid deployment capability. We supply robust and certified standard units that can be easily connected. If required, the installation can be scaled up to a capacity of 110 kW. This flexibility provides assurance within a complex and innovative research project.
Hydrauvision Rental is particularly suitable when:
- Temporary or additional hydraulic capacity is required without major investment
- Operations take place in the industrial, offshore, or maritime sector
- A standard, robust, and certified unit is desired, modular in design and easy to expand or adapt to project requirements
- Safety, flexibility, and rapid deployment are top priorities
With this contribution, we emphasize that Rental is not only a flexible partner for temporary hydraulic solutions, but also actively contributes to research, validation, and technological innovation within the offshore sector. In doing so, we support the development of future-proof offshore structures.
